Our students are bright, motivated, and ready to learn. Together we explore cultures of the past and the art that they created. The past is an exciting place where we discover how religion, politics, and customs as well as wealth shaped the development of visual culture. We also look at how later cultures adopted, adapted, or rejected what came before. We think about challenges as well as innovations. In my own research I study the ancient Romans. UAH has supported numerous trips to Italy. Seeing what I work with in person as well as having access to the world's best libraries in my field has helped me become a successful researcher. I am able to share what I learn with our students. In college I played sports, worked a campus job, and participated in clubs and other activities. I know what it's like to juggle a busy schedule and have fun along the way. I will help you have the same experience here at UAH.
