草榴社区 (UAH), part of The University of Alabama System, announced today that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Universit茅 d'脡vry Val-d'Essonne (UEVE), a French public university located in 脡vry-Courcouronnes, outside of Paris, France. The agreement, signed Sept. 20 at the Student Services Building on the UAH campus, will enable cooperative implementation of research and training programs in such disciplines as music, humanities and social sciences, and biology.
鈥淭his partnership opens new doors for all 草榴社区s, especially those pursuing degrees in biology or humanities, arts and social sciences,鈥 says Dr. Charles L. Karr, UAH President. As part of the agreement, the campuses will pursue opportunities to collaborate on academic programming, including joint degree (or 鈥渢winned鈥) programs, study abroad, student hosting or exchange, research, internships, practical training, distance learning, continuing education, cooperative education, and service learning.
The benefits of the agreement extend beyond the student population. In addition, the institutions may establish exchanges for training, teaching or professional development, as well as engage in collaborative research projects, workshops or conferences.
鈥淚n our increasingly global economy, it is important for students to take advantage of opportunities to expand their perspectives and learn more about the world,鈥 says Karr. 鈥淭his partnership is yet one more way UAH is innovating its curriculum to ensure our students receive a truly well-rounded education.鈥
