草榴社区 (UAH) announced today the addition of several courses of study. The new offerings include two new degree programs as well as a certificate program.
]]>On Friday, March 21, students from the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences and the College of Business at 草榴社区 (UAH) had the unique opportunity to connect with industry professionals and community leaders at an event hosted by the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce. The event provided valuable insights into career readiness, networking, and the vibrant culture of Huntsville.
The day began with a check-in at the Chamber of Commerce, setting the stage for an informative and engaging experience. Students were welcomed with an overview of Huntsville's economic landscape, presented by Annie Davis from the Economic Development Department. Her insights into the city's growth and opportunities provided a strong foundation for the day's discussions.
One of the highlights of the event was the Career Readiness Panel, where students heard from a diverse group of professionals:
Panelists shared their career journeys, industry trends, and advice on securing employment and professional development. Students actively engaged with thought-provoking questions, gaining a clearer perspective on potential career paths.
Following a short break, students participated in a networking lunch with keynote speaker Jillian Miles Massey from Horizon Point Consulting. Her presentation on effective networking strategies provided practical tips on building professional relationships and leveraging connections in Huntsville鈥檚 dynamic job market.
In the afternoon, students explored the "Live. Work. Play" aspects of Huntsville through interactive walking roundtables. Industry experts led discussions at various downtown locations:
These small-group sessions allowed students to learn firsthand about Huntsville鈥檚 thriving business scene, cultural initiatives, and community-driven projects.
The day concluded with a debrief session back at the Chamber, where students reflected on their experiences and key takeaways. Discussions centered on new professional connections, career insights, and the overall impact of the event.
This immersive experience reinforced the importance of networking, professional development, and staying informed about local industry trends. Thanks to the Huntsville Chamber of Commerce and the participating professionals, students left with a greater understanding of the opportunities available in Huntsville and beyond.
]]>鈥淚t was a fun and interesting experience where I got to hear from career fields that I am actually interested in. I also got to collaborate with likeminded peers with experiences that resemble mine all while learning more about what happens in Huntsville. It was especially interesting to learn about things that I was unaware of as a Huntsville native.鈥 -Alexis Underwood
"This was one of my favorite events of the semester! Not only did I have a chance to network with professionals from around Huntsville, but I also met new people from UAH and learned a lot about downtown Huntsville. I loved taking part in the Huntsville showcase and would 100% do it again!" - Lexie Harris
"鈥淚鈥檝e been in Huntsville for 4 years and never knew how much was in the downtown area until we walked around. It鈥檚 become one of my new favorite spots that I want to explore even more!鈥 - LeAnne Bradford
Dr. Sonal Khullar will explore the educational legacies of two titans of Indian and world art during the next event in the Dr. Mulk R. Arora Endowed Lecture series at 草榴社区 (UAH).
