Campus Energy Conservation Holiday Reminder: Juneteenth holiday 2025 /announcements/fac-staff/19523-campus-energy-conservation-holiday-reminder-juneteenth-holiday-2025 /announcements/fac-staff/19523-campus-energy-conservation-holiday-reminder-juneteenth-holiday-2025 In support of the UAH Energy Management program, the Facilities and Operations (F&O) Department will be implementing some basic HVAC and lighting "unoccupied space" setbacks across campus to reduce utility costs and promote good stewardship/sustainability during the upcoming Juneteenth holiday closure on Thursday, June 19.

These energy conservation measures will not decrease the safety of those on campus nor degrade essential operations or preservation of sensitive assets. Facilities and Operations will monitor the building HVAC and lighting systems during limited operations and adjust any energy conservation measures as needed.

Requests for exceptions to workspace HVAC and lighting "unoccupied space" setbacks must be submitted with justification to the F&O Service Desk at facilities@uah.edu or (256)824-6490 by Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

Retiree email accounts no longer offered /announcements/fac-staff/19522-retiree-email-accounts-no-longer-offered /announcements/fac-staff/19522-retiree-email-accounts-no-longer-offered

What is changing?

Lifetime email accounts for retirees are no longer being offered. Existing accounts for current retirees will not be impacted immediately, but plan will be put in place to phase out these accounts as well.

When is this change happening?

The change will take effect on July 15, 2025.

How does this impact me?

You will lose access to your UAH email accounts once you separate from the university. Faculty automatically keep their account for up to a year after separation before their account is suspended. Emeritus are unaffected by this change.

What do I do?

Ensure all personal data has been transferred out of your UAH account and all personal services (such as bank accounts, utility services, social media, or streaming services) use your personal email address rather than your UAH email address. Read below for more information about how you can transfer personal data out of your UAH account.

Why are things changing?

UAH policy 06.01.05, "Network, Computer, and Email Account Administration," has been updated.  To view the full policy, please visit /policies and select Network, Computer, and Email Account Administration.

Further details:

In compliance with UAH policy 06.01.05, "Network, Computer, and Email Account Administration," OIT will no longer support lifetime retiree accounts. There will be no changes to emeritus accounts at this time. To view the full policy, please visit /policies and select Network, Computer, and Email Account Administration.

Please also make sure you haven鈥檛 used a UAH account for any personal services (such as bank accounts, utility services, social media, or streaming services). After the July 15th deadline, lifetime retiree accounts will no longer be accessible, so the account information for those services would need to be changed to use a different address before that date to avoid interruption in service/access.

Please keep in mind that UAH data is the property of UAH; only personal data should be migrated to your personal account. If you wish to migrate personal data from a UAH account to a private, personally-owned Google account, we recommend utilizing Google Transfer. To do so, visit  in a web browser, enter the Google email address to which you want to migrate your data, then follow the prompts. If you elect to utilize Google Transfer, please initiate the process by July 8th, 2025, as it may take up to a week for the migration to complete. To learn more, visit .

Alternatively, you may utilize Google Takeout to download an archive of your personal data. To do so, visit  in a web browser, select the data you wish to export, then follow the prompts. To learn more, visit .

If you have questions or concerns, please contact the OIT Help Desk. The OIT Help Desk is open in the Salmon Library between 8 and 5, Monday through Friday. You can call us 24/7 at 256.824.3333 or use the Client Portal any time to browse Knowledge Base articles and OIT Services. Access the Client Portal at . Please note that we only respond to emails when we are open. Our email address is helpdesk@uah.edu.
