Cut your UAH parking fines by donating non-perishable food items to the SGA food pantry

��s can ease their parking ticket woes and support a worthy cause at the same time through the Donations for Citations program, a partnership between the UAH Student Government Association (SGA) and the Parking Services team.

Make a donation of non-perishable food items to the on-campus food pantry sponsored by the SGA. Then receive a donation voucher to take to Parking Services for a reduction in parking fines. This program may be used for up to $50 worth of parking tickets each semester.

“The food pantry allows us as a community to assist those who may not be as fortunate,” says Joshua Jamison, SGA president. “With the implementation of the Donations for Citations program, we are now able to give students an opportunity to not only reduce their parking tickets but also to help their fellow students.”

Items for donation should be brought to the Office of Student Life (Charger Union 201, under the ADMINISTRATION sign) Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Examples of possible donations and parking credits:

Case of Ramen (must be a 12 pack) – $5
Cereal boxes (5 mini boxes) – $5
Canned veggies – $1
Mac and cheese (must be a 4 count) – $5
Granola bar (must be a 24 pack) – $5
Canned/pouched meat (must be 4 pouches or cans) – $5

The food pantry provides non-perishable food items to members of the UAH community who are dealing with food insecurity. SGA started the program in the fall 2014 semester.

UAH will reopen and return to normal operations on Monday, January 22, 2024

Everyone should use sound judgment when commuting to campus and entering the buildings as there are icy areas and slick patches.

Employees should speak to their supervisors if they are unable to return to campus.

Dining options and other services may have limited operations.

Because of the ongoing winter weather and road conditions, UAH will continue to operate remotely with virtual learning on Friday, January 19:

All UAH courses will be held in accordance with instructional continuity plans. No classes will meet on campus.
Supervisors should allow remote work where possible.
The UAH Early Learning Center will be closed.
Hours of operation for on-campus dining facilities can be found on the UAH Dining Services webpage.
The university’s bookstore will be closed. Check the fitness center’s website for the hours of operations.

The UAH Facilities and Operations Team is currently treating select walkways and roadways on campus, specifically around the Residence Halls and the CTC, for ice. The intensely cold temperatures are making it difficult to keep all paths clear. Use extreme caution while walking and driving on campus.

The university will continue to monitor all weather conditions and will make updates as necessary. We ask you to remain weather aware. Safety is our number one priority.

Pfizer bivalent Omicron COVID-19 boosters

The UAH Health Clinics now offer Pfizer bivalent Omicron COVID-19 boosters available to individuals age 12 or older, two months after their last booster or final dose of a primary series. UAH does not yet have Moderna Omicron boosters available, but individuals may receive a Pfizer booster even if they had Moderna or Johnson & Johnson in the past.

Those who schedule a vaccination will authorize consent through the health portal the morning of their appointment (or will fill out a paper consent if not affiliated with UAH). Recipients under the age of 19 are required to get parental consent and signature on the paper consent form before receiving the vaccine.

Appointments can be made through the UAH Health Portal or by calling 256.824.2400.

Vaccines are administered at Wilson Hall, room 327.

Revised: Road Closure Notice for Ben Graves Drive - Phase II May 28 - August 12, 2022

Please find attached the REVISED Memorandum that communicates the details of the road closure this summer.

We have revised the dates of Phase II based on the Contractor's progress. In lieu of starting Phase II of the closure on June 6th, the Contractor would like to move the date up to Saturday, May 28, 2022.

Continual access to all buildings and service drives on campus will be provided during construction.

Campus Update: Changes to UAH Masking Requirements - Cramer Hall Update

As a reminder, UAH masking requirements were updated on Friday, March 11 to remove the requirement to wear a mask indoors in most circumstances. Effective immediately, UAH masking requirements have been updated to remove the requirement to wear a mask in Cramer Hall.

Masking is no longer mandatory indoors on UAH campus, except:

Masks are required in all clinical areas in Wilson Hall, as posted on signage.
Individuals are still required to wear a mask in accordance with CDC guidance, including:
- Following an isolation period after a positive test (i.e., wear a mask for five days when around people following the five-day isolation period, minimum 10 days total masking)
- After an unvaccinated person’s close-contact exposure to a COVID-positive individual (i.e., wear a mask for five days following the five-day quarantine period after exposure, 10 days total if no symptoms develop)

Dear UAH Students, Faculty, and Staff:

I am writing today to share news about my upcoming retirement plans effective at the end of this calendar year. My wife and I have made this decision due to private family matters and after determining our personal priorities must come first.

I am deeply grateful to Chancellor St. John, the Board of Trustees, and the UAH community for my tenure here, and I am proud of the challenges we have navigated together successfully during unprecedented times.

Tomorrow, Chancellor St. John will share an update about the planned transition, which I fully support. The Chancellor, the Board, and UAH’s supporters have a deep and abiding commitment to UAH’s trajectory as a national leader in teaching, research and public service. I have complete confidence that the transition will be smooth and seamless.

It has been a great honor and privilege to serve as your president. Thank you for your unwavering support of our institution, mission and vision.

Campus Update: UAH to Require Face Coverings Indoors

Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases and recent public health guidance, UAH will require face coverings indoors on campus, effective Monday, August 9. This requirement applies to everyone, regardless of vaccination status.

Exceptions include:

When alone in offices and private workspaces
In residence hall rooms
While actively eating or drinking
While actively engaged in exercise

UAH will continue to monitor key data and public health guidance and will work in conjunction with the UA System Health and Safety Task Force to evaluate this temporary guidance.

Vaccines remain key to combating COVID-19. If you have not yet been vaccinated, please consider doing so as soon as possible. The data continue to show these vaccines provide strong protection against infection – especially serious complications – compared to those who are unvaccinated. Vaccination appointments can be made through the UAH Health Portal.

We need your help collecting vital vaccination data so we can make the most informed decisions possible for our campus. If you were vaccinated off campus, please upload a photo of your vaccine card to the UAH Health Portal or bring a copy of your card to the Student Health Center or Faculty and Staff Clinic. Students who receive a vaccine on campus or upload records from an off-campus provider by September 1 will receive $20 UAH Dining Dollars.

Campus Update: Update to UAH COVID-19 Health and Safety Requirements

Dear Charger Community,

We continue to make data- and expert-driven decisions in accordance with the UA System Comprehensive Health and Safety Plan to safely move closer to normal operations. Please note the following change to our COVID-19 health and safety requirements:

Social Distancing: Effective May 10, the university will require a 3-foot distance between individuals instead of the current 6 feet. We are announcing this now so we can plan ahead for classes and events this summer, but please continue to maintain 6-foot distancing until May 10. This change is consistent with revised Centers for Disease Control and Prevention considerations for operating schools during COVID-19.

After the statewide mask mandate is lifted, and until further notice, UAH’s campus mask/face covering requirement will continue inside university buildings and also outdoors when social distancing is not possible.

In the coming weeks and months, please read official UAH emails and visit the Return to Campus website for the many updates and announcements to come. Thank you for all you continue to do to keep yourselves and others safe.
