Renewal applications must describe any changes in formal instruction over the past project period and plans for the future that address any weaknesses in the current RCR instruction. All training faculty who served as course directors, speakers, lecturers, and/or discussion leaders during the past project period must be named in the application. Please adapt this template to your particular circumstances. Trainees receive informal training from faculty and mentors, and formal training through UAH RCR Certification Program. While this program is not currently accredited, it is designed to meet or exceed all NIH requirements for RCR training. All individuals who are covered by this mandate and working under this grant will complete the required number of on-line and face-to-face hour requirements. The course is administered by UAH Vice President for Research, through the Office of Sponsored Programs, which is responsible for administration of grants and contracts, management of intellectual property, oversight of human subject and laboratory animal research, and implementation of the university's policies on research and scholarship. Instructional Components of UAH University Responsible Conduct of Research Course Format: The course consists of a mixed format of slide presentations, courses taught by faculty, face-to-face seminars, and selected readings. Subject Matter: The course includes (but is not limited to) the following instructional areas: Conflict of interest: personal, professional, and financial Policies regarding human subjects, live vertebrate animal subjects in research, and safe laboratory practices Mentor/mentee responsibilities and relationships Collaborative research including collaborations with industry Peer review Data acquisition and laboratory tools (management, sharing, and ownership) Research misconduct and policies for handling misconduct Responsible authorship and publication practices The scientist as a responsible member of society, contemporary ethical issues in biomedical research, and the environmental and societal impacts of scientific research Faculty Participation: Some courses are taught by UAH faculty and staff with experience in the subject matter, and external subject matter experts under a Professional Services Contract. Duration of Instruction: Training consists of 2.5 hours of on-line (web-based) and 6 hours of face-to-face training. Face-to-Face is offered two times a year. Frequency of Instruction: Trainees must complete a total of 8 hours of RCR training at the earliest opportunity, and if possible, prior to submission of a proposal. Once the course is completed, the trainee receives a dated certificate of completion. How Participation In RCR Training Will Be Monitored Participation in UAH RCR training will be monitored in two ways: attendance, web-based, and courses taught. Trainees enrolled in the RCR training will be expected to complete 8 total hours as noted above. The attendance will be the primary way to ensure that trainees have received adequate training. Individuals unable to complete the required number of face-to-face hours prior to proposal submission must complete a RCR Face-to-Face Completion Plan. v. 11/2013 <>oz I g h i j S T U ] ^ ʽʽzrnh mh mh m5h1flh|=B*phhqyh1fl0Jhqyh1flB*phh1flhiSh1fl0JhSEjhSEUhoh1flB*phhuhuB*CJphhuB*phh%]B*phhk;B*phhEh1flB*phh1flB*phhEhE5CJ)< i j 3M & FxEƀXr.gdL8m$xgdL8gd m$a$gdE L M N V ` q 0 3 < = > ?
