鈥淭he Medium鈥 will run Oct. 24, 26, and 28 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 30 at 2:30 p.m. in Wilson Theatre on the UAH campus.
UAH Theatre鈥檚 century-spanning season continues this month with Gian Carlo Menotti鈥檚 "The Medium." The one-hour, English-language dramatic opera is a collaborative production with UAH鈥檚 Music Department, which is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary with a series of concert performances.
"The Medium" tells the story of a s茅ance gone awry and the tragedy of its aftermath. It unfolds with Madame Flora, a fake psychic, using her daughter and a mute servant to cheat unsuspecting customers out of their money. But during a s茅ance, Madame Flora is touched on the hand 鈥 an occurrence that she cannot explain and that drives her to insanity.
Perfect for the Halloween season, "The Medium" is co-directed by Theatre Program associate professor and Music Department lecturer and long-time vocal coach . "It is indeed special to collaborate with so many amazing artists on such a stirring piece of dramatic music," says Harwell. "We are proud to have UAH on the list of opera-producing universities, and we hope to continue this unique offering."
Starring sopranos Martha Brouse and Angelica Reidy, and with gorgeous music conducted by , chair of the Music Department, "The Medium" is guaranteed to thrill and chill audiences!
